DAVE COOKE
Auckland-based ceramicist Dave Cooke approaches each creation with intention and care. His process begins with drawing — a way to visualise and refine the form he wishes to achieve. From there, he moves to the wheel, building each vessel with the elegance and assurance of a master thrower.
Cooke’s glazes are distinctive, possessing dynamic light qualities that shift in tone depending on their surroundings. Inspired by the natural palette of lakes, mountains, and sky, his works capture the subtle transitions of the landscape. For Cooke, the day begins with an idea and finishes with an object.
Taught by renowned ceramicist Peter Collis, we look forward to seeing what tomorrow brings for this exciting new voice in ceramics.
