Black Door Gallery is pleased to present new glass works by Simon Lewis Wards.

Frequently used yet often overlooked, Simon elevates bubble wrap to the same status as the objects it cares for.

Gusts presents hand crafted sculptures made in cast glass crystal. With every cast bubble sheet being heated to 600°C and individually hot sculpted.

​Simon Lewis Wards is a sculptor based in Auckland. He works predominantly in ceramics and cast glass and is best known for his playful interpretations of iconic New Zealand candy. Wards has developed a body of work that seeks to inspire a sense of childlike excitement, oscillating between nostalgia and pop-culture, and often playing with scale to enhance the viewing experience.
