Jane De France is a contemporary Auckland-based artist known for expressive paintings that explore colour, movement, and emotion.
Raised in an artistically engaged family, she developed an early connection to drawing and painting that continues to inform her intuitive practice. Her work draws inspiration from New Zealand’s landscapes and gardens, with flowers as a central and enduring focus. Working in an expressive blend of impressionist and abstract approaches, Jane uses bold brushwork and luminous colour to capture atmosphere rather than literal representation. Influenced by artists such as Monet and Joan Mitchell, her paintings reflect a spontaneous, gestural process rooted in feeling and observation. A member of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts, Jane exhibits across Aotearoa, with growing international recognition for her vibrant and emotionally resonant work. |
