Nicola Neilson creates striking ceramic vessels defined by tactile form, rhythmic geometry, and surface pattern.
Hand-built using traditional coil and pinch methods, each piece is shaped from within using simple wooden tools to yield an organic, sculptural presence. She utilizes wax-resist techniques to lay bold, graphic patterns across the contours, celebrating clay’s unique ability to permanently preserve every touch, gesture, and mark of its creation. Neilson holds a BA in Fine Art (UK, 1996) and transitioned from a decade of landscape painting to her current ceramic practice in Waitohi Picton, New Zealand. |
