SUSPENDED GARDEN
CRISTINA POPOVICI
APRIL 24-MAY 8,2025
Black Door Gallery is excited to present Suspended Garden, a new exhibition by Cristina Popovici.
What does a garden feel like when it's not tied to form? In this new body of work, Cristina Popovici invites us into the world of the untethered garden—a place shaped by movement, emotion, and imagination rather than fences or flowerbeds. Using bold brushstrokes and flowing lines, Popovici captures the energy of nature in motion. Her paintings suggest growth and change—like petals unfurling or tendrils climbing skyward—without literal representation, existing instead in the realm of pure abstraction. Simply working with instinct and feeling, Popovici lets each painting grow freely—just like a garden that’s been set loose. The result is a vibrant and expressive celebration of nature beyond the boundaries of form. With over 30 years of exhibitions across New Zealand and Australia, Popovici’s work is held in public and private collections, and is celebrated for its raw, emotive power. Suspended Garden invites you into a realm where movement, depth, and light converge—where paint, like nature itself, defies gravity and dances in space. |
