At the upcoming Aotearoa Art Fair, Black Door Gallery will present new works by two established painters with distinctive styles and longstanding exhibition histories. The first is abstract expressionist Cristina Popovici, known for her energetic and bold mixed media action paintings. For the Fair, Popovici will present an expanded collection incorporating new portrait works and illuminated wall sculptures in combination with her known dynamic action painting works.

Alongside the work of Popovici, Mark Wooller will exhibit new richly detailed and semi-surrealist oil paintings depicting New Zealand landscape. Each of Wooller's works are layered with historic ephemera, documentation, text references and dense native bush. The geographic regions of Wooller's latest works will focus on the Hauraki Gulf and the Waitematā Harbour.

Alongside these two feature painters, we will too feature a dynamic display of sculptural works from the gallery collection, including new works by Peter Collis, Julie Moselen, Anna Korver and Ryan Carter.

The Fair is a much enjoyed annual event for the arts calendar, spotlighting the breadth and diversity of contemporary art in our region. The 4 day event brings together leading galleries from New Zealand and Australia to showcase a range of works by emerging and established artists. The Fair is held on Auckland's waterfront at the Viaduct Events Centre.

You do not need to attend the Fair to purchase or to enquire on any of the works from our presentation. We are pleased to assist out of town clients or those wishing to secure a work ahead of the Fair. Please contact us to discuss the artwork that has caught your eye.
