Auckland based artist Amber Emm produces detailed photo realist works that play with notions of focus. Emm blanks out portions of her scenes to focus the viewer’s eye on the finer details we often miss. Her main inspirations are the seaside, coastal fauna and flora of New Zealand and domestic bouquets.

Emm's abilities for fine detailed brush work likely stemmed from her background as a qualified Signwriter. Following this, she began experimenting in watercolors and acrylic, before moving on to oil, which has now become her specialty.

In recent years Amber has focused her attention on the garden almost exclusively, as she has rediscovered a driving passion to recreate the pockets of beauty which are in our own backyards. Playing with contrast and detail and by eliminating the background and surounding areas, she finds she can achieve the desired focus she wants you to notice.

Amber Emm's fine rendering of details and lighting effects has led her to win numerous awards in the domain of photo realism.
