Brian Chrystall is an Auckland based glass artist creating small-scale, one-off sculptural cast glass works that use colour, play, and nostalgic imagery to invite viewers to look closer and step into narrative worlds of childhood memory and imagination.
The playful colour palette echoes the language of games, toys, carousels, and imagined worlds, where bright colour becomes a visual shorthand for excitement, innocence, and discovery. Favouring a one-off approach guided by play, each work is individually made, carrying a strong sense of uniqueness and presence, Brian Chrystall is a long-standing contributor to the New Zealand glass community, having served as past President and current Treasurer of the New Zealand Society of Artists in Glass, where he continues to support collaboration and the development of contemporary glass practice in Aotearoa. |
