Wales born, Auckland based artist John Abramczyk has practiced in New Zealand between his own work and that of several glass studios for thirty years. While predominantly working in stained glass he also produces works using casting, fusing and engraving.
With a deep interest in the natural world delicate, soft coloured cast glass pieces radiate a gentle luminescence. Intriguingly suggesting movement and journeying. His geometric cast shapes find references in kowhaiwhai patterns. Strikingly stylised pieces with a depth of colour that appear to mix and dissolve contributing to the elegant flow is also what makes Abramczyk's practise so visually alluring. |
