John Toomer is an Otago-based contemporary realist painter known for his detailed depictions of Aotearoa’s rural and small-town architecture.
Working in oil on canvas, Toomer focuses on sheds, railway stations, grain stores, corner dairies, schoolhouses, and modest homes—structures that quietly hold the history and character of everyday life in New Zealand.
