Cast Glass Butterflies


These cast glass pieces hover elegantly off the wall creating dramatic shadow-play and movement. 


These look stunning as a single piece or as a large installation 'flying' across the wall. 


Each butterfly comes with a unique wire mounting system that floats the butterfly off the wall as if in flight, creating a joyful kinetic display. Suitable for easy installation into a range of wall types. 


These pieces can be cast in a range of colours and the gallery can assist in designing a unique composition for your wall.


Large Size (Monarch): 17cm wingspan | $185 each

Small Size (Red Admiral Butterfly): 15cm wingspan | $175 each 



The red admiral (kahukura) is unique to New Zealand and found nowhere else in the world. Its Māori name, kahukura, means “red cloak” or “red garment”, which likely refers to the striking red patches on its wings.


Monarch butterflies are New Zealand's largest butterfly and have been here since the late 1800s. Their Maori name is Kakahu.

Butterflies can be ordered in any of the colours seen here. Please allow 3-4 weeks for ordered pieces to be made.

INSTALLATION OF YOUR BUTTERFLY

  1. Drill two 1mm holes into the wall to the width of how far apart you'd like the butterflies antennae.
  2. Thread both the antennae as far as you can into the drill holes.
  3. If the antennae are too long for the depth of the wall, use wire cutters to trim the antenna evenly.

NOTE:  Our website photos are a great indication of how your artwork will look- however all our artworks are made by hand, as a result each piece may have slight variations in size and colour ways.

SHIPPING: Items couriered within New Zealand will be delivered to the address specified within 2–5 working days. Items shipped to an overseas address will have a delivery target of 10-14 working days. However, if the product is not in stock we will advise on availability and delivery. We will have your selected artwork on the way as swiftly as possible.
