Cristina Popovici brings bold, expressive gestures to her canvases, capturing raw energy and holding it still for our contemplation. Her technique combines swift brushstrokes with slow, deliberate pours, creating works that are vivid, rhythmic, and sensuous.
Balancing intensity with moments of stillness, Popovici moves between the explosive language of action painting and quieter explorations of form, light, and space. Working instinctively with a wide range of materials, she allows each painting to evolve freely, giving physical form to emotion and movement. Grounded in classical Fine Arts training yet liberated by abstract expressionism, Popovici has exhibited for over three decades across New Zealand and Australia. Her works are celebrated in both public and private collections for their visceral power and freedom. |
